She's a true inspiration to us all.
Meseret, a 37 year old mother of two young boys from Arizona, was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in June 2017 and received a bone marrow transplant the following November. Her family rejoiced in her remission after the transplant, but were quickly heartbroken to learn the cancer returned just 90 days later. Her doctors tried multiple forms of chemotherapy to battle back, but the disease returned stronger than ever. Meseret is now currently undergoing a clinic trial at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston to defeat this cancer once and for all.
When asked how our grant would help her family the most, Meseret said, "I am from Arizona with two little kids 8 and 7 years old. My mom is older and doesn't work. My brother is also a student and lives with me. My husband doesn't work at the moment, because he is my primary care giver. Your financial assistance will help me to cover some of my hospital bills and medications, because my insurance benefits ended in May and I only have market place insurance which hardly covers my treatment costs.".
We're truly humbled and honored to support families like Meseret's in any small way we can and proud to award her family with a one-time $5,000 grant to help offset uninsured medical expenses.
You can follow Meseret's journey on her GoFundMe page. We respectfully ask you join us in prayer as her family and trusted team of doctors work tirelessly to win this battle.
